Update

After completing their treatments at the Sea Turtle Research, Rescue, and Rehabilitation Center (DEKAMER), three injured sea turtles found off Kuşadası about 6 months ago have been released back into the sea.

DEKAMER Director Prof. Dr. Yakup Kaska mentioned that one had a tracking device during the release event.

He highlighted the importance of returning these turtles to their original habitat and stressed the significance of protecting male individuals for ecological balance.

Kaska expressed optimism about the turtles adapting to their new ecosystem and contributing to marine life by increasing fish populations.

Additionally, he discussed how global warming influences the gender distribution of turtle hatchlings and emphasized the importance of suitable habitats like Kuşadası and İzmir Bay due to their favourable temperatures.
