Historical olive trees cut down, field owner fined 30,000 liras

In Muğla’s Bodrum district, an administrative fine of 30,150 liras was imposed on the owner of the field who cut historical olive trees.

The District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry teams, who received a report that the adult olive trees in the field in Gölköy Neighbourhood, each of which is estimated to be 500-1000 years old, were cut by the property owners, went to the region.

During the investigation in the field, it was determined that 30 of the 34 olive trees were cut down.

While an administrative fine of 30 thousand 150 liras was imposed on the owner of the field who cut the trees, it was learned that a criminal complaint was filed to the Bodrum Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the cutting of olive trees.
