Update

Ophthalmologist Eser Pasha from Aydın, who represented Turkey in the 19th World Photography and 5th World Underwater Championships held in Cuba, became the World Champion.

Pasha, who achieved historical success by winning the world championship for the second time, became the pride of the country.

Pasha, an ophthalmologist at a private hospital in Kuşadası, has won awards in many national and international competitions thanks to his passion for photography. He started taking photographs as a hobby in 1993 and has been taking underwater photographs since 2012.

He was selected for the National Team in 2020 after the success he achieved domestically with his underwater photographs.

The underwater imaging athlete wore the National Team uniform at the 18th Underwater Photography and Video World Championship held in Portugal’s Maderia Islands on 4-9 October 2021. Pasha and Tolga Pat became world champions for the first time by winning the gold medal in the “Creativity” category, which is considered the most prestigious award of the championship, with the “Scorpius Eye” photograph they took.

Pasha then participated at the “19th Congress” held in Cuba between 9-14 October this year. He competed for the championship in the “World Photography and 5th World Underwater Championships”.

Pasha became world champion once again with his successful performance in the macro category. At the award ceremony held in Varedora, Cuba, Eser Pasha raised the flag and sang the Turkish National Anthem on the 100th anniversary of our Republic.

Pasha said: “I am proud to win the gold medal for the second time as the world champion at the CMAS Underwater 19th World Photography Championship. I also thank my wife as she was with me throughout this championship.”
