Didim expat and author Maximilian Sam has launched a 2024 virtual calendar featuring the stray dogs and cats of Sagtur, near Mavişehir.

The calendar is free to download from his website, www.maximiliansam.com. It allows anyone to print the calendar in any form they wish or save each month as a screensaver on their computers.

The calendar aims to raise awareness of stray animals and encourage people to help their local shelters with either funds, blankets, food, or even volunteering to walk the animals.

Max said: “Christmas is always a concerning time as there are still people bringing a new animal into the house for the festivities and then discarding it in January and February.

“The success of my award-winning books has allowed me to have video calls with classes of schoolchildren worldwide and help their understanding of the lives of stray animals.
